  I very much agree with this stance and have this to add.  During a routine competitive analysis, (Was then VP-Operations of ______) [I discovered a few issues that management needed to be aware of regarding LDW].  I failed to get a call back from Mr. Butler . I have little respect for Aaron's from that viewpoint and have these wise words of wisdom to add ..."If it quacks like a duck and waddles like a duck...IT MUST BE A DUCK!"

  You said it right. Who is Aaron Rents to talk about any deception by Rent Way when they can not even be honest to their own customers, the industry, or their employees about who they are. As you mentioned, we all are doing the same thing, just with slight variations. They operate under the same state statues and laws regarding Rent To Own as the rest of us and it is extremely frustrating to hear this kind of talk from them. As for well run, as a whole maybe so, but store to store I think they have the same problems that any rental store has.

  Aarons has tried to play both sides of the fence for a long time! Why does he think a different business model makes him the only company that delivers a valuable service to the customers! Maybe he should talk to the customers and he would find out just how wrong he is. Aarons is a great company and serves a part of the customer base damn well, but his model leaves out a lot of of customers that need and want RTO services. Charlie is a great man but his lack of support of our assoc and fellow RTO dealers is selfish and conceited and if his legacy is to be complete he needs to get off that PEDESTAL he has placed himself on and join all of us that have tried to make our industry a better one and not just our company!

  Comparing Aaron Rents and Rent A Center is constructive and for the betterment of the industry.  Aarons and RAC will continue to bring misunderstanding and confusion to their comparison unless clarity is established in print as to their respective depreciation methods.  Both have value and need explanation.

  A comparison of RCII and Aaron Rents is "questionable"? Why? Because you don't like hearing it, or do you have an objective distinction between the two? By failing to mention a basis for your objection, you display mere carping.
  
  As to RCII's meteoric 17% rise...SO F_____NG WHAT. Pay a couple bucks & subscribe to thestreet.com. You'll read DOZENS of stories of stocks red-flagged by Herb Greenberg (who I personally think is a twerp but who's got a damned good track record.) Half of them did quite well after the first mention...but ultimately a good proportion of them crashed and burned.
