David M. Brewer, former Remco store
manager, is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection for the
1985 rape and murder of Sherry Byrne.
David Brewer began working for Remco in 1983 and, according to
court documents, was among the top ten producing Remco store
managers in the country at the time of the murder.
On March 21st, 1985 he lured Mrs. Byrne, then 21, to a
Sharonville Ohio motel on the pretense that she would meet
Brewer and his wife there to buy stereo speakers. He later
confessed to police that he raped Mrs. Byrne, tied her with tape
and wire, locked her in the trunk of his car, and drove around
for 7 hours.
The 21-year-old victim, trapped in the trunk of
Brewer’s car, wrote “Help me please” in lipstick on a piece of
paper and shoved it outside the trunk, where it was read by
other motorists as Brewer drove through Beavercreek. No help
came, and Brewer later killed her on a secluded lane.
The long overdue execution is scheduled for April 29th
at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility at Lucasville.
