The
Furniture Retailers of America (FRA) will be
holding a special
briefing on the implications for retailers and importers of the
trade petition against Chinese wooden bedroom furniture.
The briefing will be held at 12 Noon, Thursday, April 22, 2004
in Noble's Restaurant, 101 S Main Street, High
Point, NC. The event is open to all retailers and importers.
Remarks will be made by retailers, importers, and legal counsel.
Starting as early as June 17, Chinese bedroom furniture
imports could be subject to massive import duties because a
group of domestic manufacturers have filed a petition with the
U.S. government against Chinese wooden bedroom furniture. FRA
members will provide an update on the current status of the
trade petition; the potential impact on retailers and consumers;
dates that importers and retailers need to know for posting
bonds and completing paper work required by U.S. Customs if
preliminary duties are imposed; and, actions that retailers can
take to fight this petition.
