• You can expand across State Lines without completely changing your business model

  • A Federal law regulating Rent to Own, would bring consistency to the regulation of our industry. While some states will choose to add additional regulations, HR1701 will provide a 'line in the sand', over which no State may pass.

• Protection against overly aggressive State Attorneys General

  • HR1701 requires any State AG alleging a violation of HR1701 to notify the FTC. The FTC has ultimate jurisdiction. This brings another level of consistency. As a footnote...this particular feature would significantly 'de-politicize' Rent to Own. Forcing settlements from Rent to Owns is a popular sport among some AG's because it gets headlines.
