"The cost of a new Segway runs in the
thousands of dollars and can be prohibitive for first timers.
By renting them out, we’re giving people the chance to try
before buying.”
Darren Romar of Slide4less
In an effort to appeal to Northern California residents and others who have
always wanted to try out the
Segway HT (Human Transporter) without spending thousands of dollars to
purchase a new one, Slide4less and Segway of Oakland will rent a Segway (i
series) for $20 and hr, $99 a day, or $489 per week with a 60% credit given
toward purchase of a new unit.
The Segway is a self-balancing, personal transportation device. It provides
people with the ability to move faster and carry more with them, making
commuting, shopping and general errands more efficient. It makes businesses more
productive by giving workers greater versatility, mobility and carrying
capacity. It accomplishes this by combining the most advanced and professionally
tested technology ever created.
"These Segways are hotter than hot,” says Steve Steinberg, a partner in
Slide4less. "It’s easy to ride and almost anyone can do it, and of course when
you get good at it you can start doing the real freaky things.”
"We started thinking that with the growing popularity of the Segway, maybe a
rental business would be a good way to get new people into it,” added Darren
Romar of Slide4less. "The cost of a new Segway runs in the thousands of dollars
and can be prohibitive for first timers. By renting them out, we’re giving
people the chance to try before buying.”
