thankful for the fact that you accepted me for who I am
Robert Briley, APRO 2005 Rental Dealer of the Year.
Robert Briley, owner of Abilene,
Texas based Rent City, was named 2005's Rental Dealer of the
Year by APRO (Association of Progressive Rental Organizations)
during Thursday nights Awards Banquet at the Mandalay Bay
Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Briley serves on the
APRO board of directors and is president of TARA (Texas
Association of Rental Agencies). APRO President Shannon Strunk
described Briley as a "peacemaker".
The honor was a surprise to Briley. He told the crowd, "I'm
always thankful for the fact that you accepted me for who
I am and always included me in the APRO family".
Wayne Harris, of Sandberg Furniture was named APRO Vendor of
the Year for 2005.
Sandberg Furniture is a long time supporter
of RTO industry legislative efforts. Wayne is a fixture at
tradeshows and association events around the country. Sandberg
recently entertained rental dealers during the Las Vegas
furniture market with a party at Mandalay Bay's House of Blues (see
story).
Thursday night's finale had a Tonight Show theme complete with
red-carpet, velvet ropes, and paparazzi. RTO dealers were
greeted by screaming fans and autograph seekers (photo
gallery).
"Joan Rivers", standing in for an ill "Jay Leno", emceed the
event.

Before officially closing the annual convention, Shannon
Strunk announced that purchase orders written at this tradeshow
exceeded 2004 by $1 million, totaling over $14 million.
