Samsung
Electronics took the No. 1 position by shipping 7.2 million
units since its eighth-generation (8G) fabrication line came
online.
Shipments
of large-size TFT-LCD panels, 10-inch and larger, totaled 34
million units in July 2007, increasing 2.1% from June.
According to a market data from Displaybank, a display market
research institute, large-format TFT-LCD panel shipments reached
34 million units in July, up by 2.1% from 33.3 million units in
June.
Among large-format TFT-LCD panels, monitor panel shipments were
down slightly from June to 15.7 million units in July, while TV
and notebook panel shipments increased month-on-month to 7.2
million units and 10.2 million units, respectively.
By supplier, Samsung Electronics took the No. 1 position by
shipping 7.2 million units since its eighth-generation (8G)
fabrication line came online.
Samsung, which has focused on TV applications so far, has
previously ranked top in revenues, but this is the first time
the company has led all manufacturers in unit volume. The second
player was Taiwan-based AU Optronics (AUO), which shipped 7
million units. In third place was LG.Philips LCD, which recorded
shipments of 6.7 million units.
On a revenue basis, Samsung Electronics maintained its No. 1
position with a 22.8% market share, followed by LG.Philips LCD
at 20.5% and AUO at 19.3%.
