Two
of three finalists in the home entertainment category of the
Pinnacle Design
Competition were Bush designs. It’s Tuxedo Entertainment Center took home
first prize.
Bush’s Tuxedo Entertainment Center, marketed under its Eric Morgan brand of
set-up case goods furniture, was recognized by the American Society of Furniture
Designers for its design excellence during the Ninth Annual Pinnacle Design
Achievement Awards ceremony held during Fall Market at High Point, NC in
October.
In announcing Tuxedo Entertainment's first-place award in the home entertainment
category, judges sited its "exceptional value with a great use of mixed
materials and an excellent combination of storage and display."
A panel of 12 independent judges evaluated the entries based on strict criteria
that includes value to consumers, visual appearance and function, use of
materials and application of production technology. Thirty percent more entries
were received this year, according to Christine Evans, executive director of
ASFD. The number of 2004-2005 submissions was an all time high as well.
Bush's design team is lead by Joe Miller, Senior Vice President of Product
Design. The lead designer for the Tuxedo and Mason Hill collections is Walt
Shaw.
“Design is a series of alternatives with no one ‘right answer,’” said Shaw. “It
is created, not discovered.”
In addition to it’s strong showing in the home entertainment category, Bush’s
Tuxedo Executive home office group achieved finalist status in the home office
category. Bush places heavy emphasis on developing collections with matching
entertainment and home office pieces. “Technological convergence has blurred the
line in home furnishings, as well as between PCs and TVs,” said Jim Schmidt,
Vice President of Marketing & Merchandising at Bush.
Tuxedo's elegant design combines the look of Sheraton style with today's
off-the-floor airy appeal. This handsome 36" Entertainment Center has numerous
features that enable a state-of-the-art home theater system while integrating
seamlessly into the home with its storage and curio display functionality. When
the center entertainment section is in use, sliding frosted glass doors move to
the sides and conceal the left and right-side curio areas. When the
entertainment functions are not in use, the doors slide to the to the middle to
reveal the curio displays and their beautiful halogen lighting that cascades
around the keepsakes.
Like most home entertainment centers marketed by Bush, Tuxedo accommodates both
the latest in home entertainment technology and older or "conventional"
technologies. This gives the unit greater versatility, not only in the eyes of
the consumer, but also for the retailer who must get the greatest utilization
out of scarce floor space. All Bush entertainment products are also tip tested
against stringent standards established by Underwriters Laboratories that are
intended to protect consumers and their children.
Bush will share it's latest home entertainment furniture, including the Tuxedo
and Mason Hills HECs, at the
Consumer
Electronics Show in Las Vegas between January 6 – 9, 2005. Bush Furniture's
show space is #25905 located in the Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall 2,
Ground Level.
