As a Union member, these statement s couldnt be farther from the truth. First, if you go to the AFL-CIO website youll see well over 1 million in support of EFCA on an online petition. The only argument against this bill is the "secret ballot"...we currently sign cards or petitions to be union today, the difference is that the NLRB provides these names to the company and the "secret ballot"vote is delayed for at least 30 days while the company begins making false promises, threats of shutting down, and even terminating those trying to organize. EFCA provides the NLRB with the signed cards and the NLRB declares them a union if they have majority signatures. Im appalled that the complete story is never printed from these anti-union organizations. No stories of the Wal-Mart stores that tell their employees that if there is any talk of union they will be fired. There is NO protection for individuals that wish to form a union so that they can have a voice at the job. CEOs and big business are against this..why..not because it will hurt the economy and cause job loss...but because it will give their mistrated employees some rights and the chance to bargain things like wages, pension, healthcare at their job. If you do your research on unions in the world, youll find out that America is 16th in wages but 2nd in production. Costcos CEO has been quote as saying he supports the union at his stores because he gets a good workforce that does a good job, cares about their job, and stays there...by the way, Costco (which is just like Sams and Wal-Mart) employees avaerage $16 per hour and the company pays 90% of their healthcare, and they have a pention...Wal-Mart, average 9$ per hour, most employees on medicaid because they cant afford the insurance, and no pension. What about you at your job? Wouldnt you like to have some say in your retirement, your healthcare? If not, then I can only say that you must be in upper management or EO status ...as for us in the working class...I want my voice!
