| The article itself is well written, but the information given to the news media is absurd. Under the direction of Mr. Learmonth the company has not realized hundrends of millions of dollars in cost savings with the implmentation of Lean Sigma. In fact, the stock is the lowest it has ever been, plants have closed, plants have been the least productive ever, and negotiated health care benefits for retirees in Galesburg, Illinois have either been modified or terminated. How can a company who has a grossly underfunded defined pension fund and claim to have to modifiy and cut negotiated retirees health care benefits in order to save costs claim Mr. Learmonth has saved them millions of dollars through a Lean Sigma program. If Lean Sigman has done anything, it has been the ruin of a company once know for its' dependable and high quality products. Since Maytag implemented Mr. Learmonth's Lean Sigma program, there have been more recalls of their products than ever before.
It is really hard to read a article that praises a man that has been so instrumental in the destruction of a great company.
Please do some investigation in to the two issues of Maytag's underfunded defined pension and modification and termination of retirees negotiated health care benefits, especially in the city of Galeburg, Illinois.
