Often times,
new businesses try to make it appear as though they have cameras
by installing “dummy cams” at their store or business. These
hollow camera housings give a “false sense” of security, and
make way for real problems to occur when it comes to being sued
for liability.
Every
business needs security, but many still don't see it as a
priority. Even with the threat of outside theft being feasible,
and the probability of internal theft stealing business profits,
some businesses just don't see the money they are losing.
Often times, new businesses try to make it appear as though they

security, and make way for real problems to occur when it comes
to being sued for liability.
Recently, a family in Miami Florida was awarded a massive
settlemtn for a shooting that occurred where a business claimed
they had 24 hour security. When negligent security was found,
the court ruled and awarded the family the lump sum of two
million dollars. An attorney from the Haggard Law Firm in Coral
Gables Florida representing the family was quoted in the Miami
Herald*, “The
complex did not provide the 24-hour security that they
advertised." To make matters worse, the shooter has not been
found because he was not identified on camera or by an eye
witness. The case remains unsolved.
There have been other instances of crimes in parking decks, back
lots, or other dark areas where cameras were not installed and
criminals got away with no positive identification. The crimes
being committed must be stopped, and fake security doesn't do a
real job in deterring a criminal. With crime rates rising,
protection is essential for defense against crime and customer
re-assurance.
If a felony does occur in your place of business, there should
never be a “false sense of security”. With a working security
system in place, you protect yourself and your patrons, and may
be able to provide the evidence needed to convict the
perpetrator.
