SED International is a publicly-traded distributor based in Atlanta with domestic and international offices.

“Motherboards, monitors, RAM, nearly every part associated with computers is something SED can provide. Of course, we also build custom PC’s and custom servers for our clients,” said Mike Bertolani, National Sales Manager for SED.

“In addition to our custom work, we distribute pre-built PC’s from Dell, Acer and eMachine and we also are a source of consumer electronics from Mitsubishi, Soyo, Panasonic Professional, AOC, AKAI and Astar. SED is a master distributor for Verizon – so all Verizon stores purchase their merchandise through our company. As part of that relationship, Verizon tapped SED to conduct field testing on the new Verizon Wireless Broadband Card.”

The card allows PC and laptop users the ability to hop onto a broadband network and can be merchandised with computers for an add-on sales at rental stores.

SED is a one-stop shop for PC’s and consumer electronics and offers its customers floor plan programs, net-term programs, cash programs and more. But SED is best known throughout the rental business for service after the sale.

“There is no extra charge for tech support. We know rental store managers are not paid to be tech support, they are paid to rent merchandise. Our very active support network allows rental managers and employees to do their jobs while we do ours.”

SED’s job includes placing phoning rental stores to see if any inventory is down and to help get it up and running and back on rent. SED will also walk customers through any computer issues they might have once their PC is at home. And, since one of SED’s core competencies is building computers, the tech support team that works with the rental industry really knows what they’re doing – quite literally from the inside out.

“We believe in educating our customers and that is why we feel such an affinity with RentDirect. I think RentDirect has taken the approach that education and partnership is important. They’re spending a lot of time to make sure their members have the knowledge to build their business better, not just to buy product better.”
