TALLEY, JAMES ERNEST Born April 3, 1935 in Yardelle, Arkansas, Ernie passed away peacefully the morning of June 21, 2003 from complications due to a six year bout with prostate cancer. He was a success as a husband, parent, sibling, son, and friend. Ernie is proceeded in death by his parents Edith and Elzie and brother Willie. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, sons Michael, Mark, and Matt, sister Barbara Cole, daughter-in-law Kathy and grandchildren Benjamin, Regan and Madison. Ernie overcame humble beginnings to become a successful businessman while not losing his grounding from growing up on the farm. he had many parts to his professional career including serving in the military, owning and managing retail appliance stores owning and operating a real estate brockerage/investment firm, serving as a state representative in the Kansas legislature, owning an appliance leasing business, and is commonly credited with starting the rent-to-own business. He retired from Rent-Center in October 2001, where he was Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. He will be missed and is loved by his family and friends. Services will be held Tuesday, June 24 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Pilot Point, Texas. Rosary will be Monday June 23, at 7:00 pm at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, Texas.
