On Thursday, 6-5-03, we reported 9 new co-sponsors to HR996 and listed their names. We have since learned that this list is not accurate.

RTO Online monitors HR996 co-sponsorship through the Library of Congress (LOC). The LOC notified us of 9 new cosponsors on 6-4. We published our story based on this information. Since then, the LOC has revised their co-sponsor list.

The new list does not include previously reported cosponsors Rep Jo Bonner (R-AL), and Rep Anthony Weiner (D-NY). According to Jo Bonner's Washington DC office, Rep. Bonner was "unaware of the bill" and is not a co-sponsor. We believe there is at least one more Rep listed as co-sponsor by mistake; Anthony Weiner (D-NY).
UPDATE: We have confirmed that Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) has not co-sponsored HR996. In fact, Rep. Weiner voted No on HR1701 in previous sessions.

UPDATE: RTO Online has verified that Rep. Roger Wicker (R-MS) has co-sponsored HR996. His name was not included in previous LOC updates. ...developing
