Tom Roper has spent 30 years in the electronics and appliance business, most recently as Sr. VP of Merchandising and Marketing at DSI, a national distributor of consumer electronics. Previously, he was a key electronics and appliance merchant at Home Shopping Network, Officemax, and Roberds.

SED International, Inc., a leading distributor of consumer electronics to the rent-to-own sector, announced today the hiring of consumer electronics industry veteran, Tom Roper. Tom takes over the newly created position of Director and GMM (General Merchandising Manager) of CE Purchasing.

Tom has spent 30 years in the electronics and appliance business, most recently as Sr. VP of Merchandising and Marketing at DSI, a national distributor of consumer electronics. Previously, he was a key electronics and appliance merchant at Home Shopping Network, Officemax, and Roberds. He started his career at Rich's Department store where he spent 17 years as a Buyer and a Divisional Merchandise Manager.

"We began in the CE business 27 years ago and Tom is a welcome addition to our great team of associates throughout the company," said Jeanie Diamond, Chairman and CEO. "Tom fits perfectly within our service first mentality and family oriented approach to doing business," she added.

SED was founded in 1980 with a heavy CE influence, and then expanded into IT and cellular products within the first few years. "So many great partners helped us build this business in the early years. We have built everything off great partnerships," said Diamond.
