takes place in High Point, N.C., April 22—28, 2004. As the
world’s largest exhibition of residential
furnishings, the seven-day Market encompasses 11.5 million
square feet and draws more than 80,000 attendees (find
accommodations) and 3,000 manufacturers of casegoods,
upholstery, decorative accessories, lighting, rugs, and bedding.
International exhibitors represent average of 11% of total
exhibitors.

The Market uses close to 11 million square feet
of showroom space in 188 separate buildings in High Point &
Thomasville, N.C. USA. The International Home Furnishings Market
is considered the most important wholesale home furnishings
market in the world.
The first Southern Furniture Market was held in
High Point and Thomasville in 1909. Market was held twice a year
beginning in 1913. The 1913 Market used 30,000 square feet in 8
buildings with 100 exhibitors and 400 attendees. In 1989 the
Southern Furniture Market changed its name to the International
Home Furnishings Market.
