105 Rent to Own professionals from around the nation participated in the second annual ColorTyme Charity Golf Tournament March 14th at the Traces Golf Club in Florence, South Carolina. The event raised a record $15,750 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Players braved the rain and wind for a worthy cause. The winning team shot an amazing 22 under par despite the less than perfect weather. First Place Team: Scott Spivey, Brian Boles, Tick Freeman Capt., Tim Freeman, Pee Dee Pride's Allan Sirois.  Second Place Team: ColorTyme Franchisees Tony Nickolas and Eric Wise, along with the  Pee Dee Prides Eric Naud.

Dear Bob and Nan:
As I'm so busy getting ready for my upcoming Walk, I realized I hadn't stopped long enough to properly say Thank You for everything you have done and are doing for JDRF and specifically for Haley. As I watched you both in the weeks prior to the Golf Tournament working so hard to prepare for another successful event, it dawned on me that you are the perfect example of Haley's daily life. People from all over the place showed up to your Tournament. They had a great time in spite the non-characteristic SC weather. They had wonderful food. They enjoyed the company of friends and met new ones. Many went home with prizes for themselves or their wives, which is always a positive. They got to play and even feel good about helping out with a good cause. But they didn't see the days and weeks and hours of long hard work that it took to make it all possible. They didn't see the hurdles you faced and the roadblocks you had to tear down. They didn't see any of what went on behind the scenes that made you think "why am I doing this again?!" I guess in short we could say they all took it for granted, but you knew what it would take to make it a success and you did it anyway. With every single piece you kept on. That's how Haley lives. Everyone says how great she looks, but they dismiss what she has to do just to stay alive. They don't realize this insulin is her life support. Most of the time, she does very well, but some days she just feels awful and in those cases she has no choice but to keep sticking her fingers, giving herself a shot every time she puts anything more than a cracker in her mouth and keep on going. By the time your next Golf Tournament comes around (unless we have that Cure by then), Haley will have pricked her fingers a minimum of 2,920 times and given herself approximately 2,790 shots. That's 5, 710 sticks a year just to stay alive ! I don't think people have a clue, but you do. You are among the few who get it and I appreciate everything you are doing to build awareness throughout your company and network of affiliates about this insidious disease. I know you get it, because of what you are doing about it !
