Greenbaum Home Furnishings and
La-Z-Boy
Furniture Galleries, two local furniture retailers, have
joined forces to help support
The Sharehouse, a Seattle, non-profit furniture bank that
distributes furniture to homeless families who are resettling
into permanent housing.
Between April 30th and May 18th, Greenbaum and La-Z-Boy will be
giving their customers $50 in credit towards a new living room
chair or recliner and $100 in credit towards a new couch when
customers trade-in their old living room furniture.
All reusable furniture will be donated to the Sharehouse, who
will give the furniture away free of charge to families coming
out of shelters and transitional housing and moving into new
homes. Greenbaum Home Furnishings has been a proud partner of
The Sharehouse since 1990, donating well over $50,000 worth of
furniture and helping to furnish over 456 homes for the
homeless. Says Cindy Greenbaum of her retail partnership with
the local non-profit, "Working with the Sharehouse has helped to
create an awareness of the issue of homelessness among our
customers and employees, and we're proud to be part of a project
that recycles a sense of dignity and pride in individuals
getting back on their feet AND recycles reusable furniture for
the environment. We're just glad we can give back and thank the
Northwest for their support."
La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries has been donating reusable
furniture to the program for several years from their Lynnwood
and Southcenter stores, and is adding to the effort through
their new Issaquah location. "People in the Puget Sound region
have a reputation for getting involved with programs to help
those who need it, says La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries' Pete
Scroggs. "The current tough economic conditions make it an ideal
time to raise people's awareness of how they can truly impact
someone's life through the Sharehouse program. This is a great
example of a win-win situation."
