Rent America District Manger Jessie
Taylor at the TRIB Group Buying show in Dallas, Texas. |
TRIB (The
Rental Industry Buying Group) members responded to deep
vendor discounts during the two day TRIB Group Buying Show in
Dallas, Texas.
The show ended Friday with vendors recording $17.8 million in
purchase orders, eclipsing the previous record set last year by
50%. "When we started out the week, I thought if we did $11 -
$15 million it would be a great show," said John Spangler, TRIB
Group President. Spangler addressed members during a closing
reception and award ceremony Friday evening. "On behalf of the [TRIB
Group] board of directors, I want to thank our members and
vendors for all their support. Its been a great year," he said.
Jessie Taylor, District Manager for
Rent
America, a 20 store chain with locations in Connecticut,
North Carolina and South Carolina, has attended the TRIB show
for two years. "It's a great opportunity to see new products and
exchange ideas with District managers from other companies,"
said Taylor.
Game systems and TVs top Taylor's list of most exciting new
products this year. "Plasma TVs aren't new, but the price has
dropped to the point where they can be rented at a reasonable
rate. We're also adding the new Sony PSP (Playstation Portable)
from
Florida State Games." Taylor expects the new Sony game
system to revive a category that's been lagging lately.
