The
Missouri Rental Dealers Association (MRDA)
recently formed a political action committee (PAC). In a letter
sent to Missouri rent to own dealers, James Durham, MRDA's
lobbyist from the firm John Britton and Associates, stated "The
PAC will be used to support candidates for state office who
appreciate the value of the rent-to-own industry." He added that
a PAC would enhance MRDA's recognition in Missouri's capitol,
Jefferson City.
MRDA Board of Directors approved the use of 50%
of 2004 dues for PAC "seed money." MRDA members will be allowed
to check a box on their 2004 dues statement to "opt-out" of the
PAC.
