WithIt is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Women in the Home Industries Today was founded at the Fall International Home Furnishings Market in High Point in 1997 by Jena Hall, Margaret Trauband Kimberley Wray.

WithIt, an organization dedicated to the support and development of female professionals in the home industries, mentored 130 college students and faculty during this month’s market at High Point on Friday. Four Hands, South Cone and Roberta Schilling Collection co-hosted the event, which included an organic lunch in Club Surrender for attendees.

Students attending from Appalachian State University, The Art Institute of Charlotte, High Point University, North Carolina State University, Randolph Community College, and Winthrop University were given tours through showrooms and were introduced to many opportunities within the home furnishings industry by WithIt members. WithIt Student Mentoring is open to all colleges and universities in the United States that offer degree programs relating to the home furnishings industry.

Vice president of mentoring, Sharon Kepley, Woolrich, Inc introduced Susan Inglis, Executive Director of SFC, a non-profit industry association created to promote sustainable practices among manufacturers, retailers, and consumers providing a public tagging program to identify good choices. Inglis gave an overview of the creation of the council and its importance of their work to the future of our industry. She concluded her talk describing the standards and levels on which a product may be measured and a company reaches recognition.
