A common theme from the Republican side of the isle during what was at
times a nasty debate,
....it's been ten years, let's get on with it.
With that, after hours of name calling from Maxine Waters and calm logic from
Spencer Bachus, the votes were finally cast and the
Speaker reported the victory. Click the link below for the audio announcement of
this historic vote.
The Full House of Representatives voted in favor of HR1701 the Consumer
Rental Purchase Agreement Act.
Most political debate can be described as 'Partisan'. The debate on HR1701,
could be divided, not into Republican vs Democrat terms, but into Rational vs
Irrational.
Time and time again, Maxine Waters (D-Ca) would raise purely emotional
arguments, seldom based on fact and always meant to grab headlines. Representative Bachus (R-Al), the able
quarterback in support of the bill, went calmly and logically about the
business of destroying each and every argument the opposition put forward.
It was a beautiful thing indeed. Representative Bachus is to be commended for
maintaining courageous calm in the face of everything from name calling to
general bluster. Maxine Waters even sunk to calling fellow House Members
"Criminal" for supporting the Bill.
Over the next few days, RTO Online will publish audio snippets from the
debate. Please check back soon.
