David Forsee, a 34-year-old
resident of Indianapolis is the first to cross the finish line
in the inaugural
Whirlpool
Steelhead Triathlon. Forsee crossed the line in Benton Harbor,
Mich., on Sunday (Sept. 14) with a time of 4:20:16. The
triathlon, which was half the distance of an Ironman event,
consisted of a 1.2-mile swim in Lake Michigan, a 56-mile bike
ride and a 13.2-mile run through Benton Harbor. More than 500
athletes participated in the triathlon, which capped off a
weekend of concerts, an art fair, other races for children and
novice tri-athletes, and wine and food tastings in downtown
Benton Harbor. Whirlpool Corp., based in Benton Harbor Michigan,
was the primary sponsor of the events.
