'Twas the night before Christmas,
when all through the store, one account was past due, just one
BOR.
The lists were all printed, and
laid out with care, in hopes 100% close soon would be there.
Account Managers were nestled
all sung at their phones, while visions of bonuses coursed
through their bones; It was 5 minutes to close, "It's too late I
fear", but 99 percent's not so bad, for this time of year.
When out by the curb there
arose such a clatter, I sprang from my desk to see what was the
matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, tore open the
door and stood there aghast!
When what to my wondering eyes
did appear, but our only late customer, I let out a cheer!
As door hangers that before the
wild hurricane fly, when they meet with an obstacle mount to the
sky. So into the store he came with a dash, ran up to the
counter and pulled out some cash.
He said not a word, just stood
there and stared, I pounded the keyboard as fast as I dared.
One minute to close, I heard
the others shout, I tried to stay calm, but our record was in
doubt. "That'll be one week renewal at nineteen ninety nine". He
smiled slyly and asked, "can I pay you in dimes?"
Absolutely I said, thinking
this is very strange, sweat poured off my brow as I counted the
change. I jammed the enter key and ran to the printer, tore off
the receipt like a world class sprinter.
I said, Thank you sir, and
looked at my watch, ten seconds to spare, let's break out the
scotch.
We toasted success and shook
hands with delight, saying "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a
good night"
