Strange: According to the Dayton Daily News, on May 8, a
Rent-A-Center customer reported a laptop had been stolen from
their home and was being held for ransom. There were no signs of
forced entry.
The customer showed the officer a text message demanding $50 to
buy back the laptop. According to the report, the officer called
the number the text originated from and got an answering
machine.
A followup text message stated the laptop had been sold....
