 PeopLoungers,
based in Nettleton, Mississippi, was founded in 1979 with 20
employees and claims to be the first company to successfully
sell motion upholstery as a primary product.
 PeopLoungers
Inc. filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy Tuesday. A list of the top
20 creditors obtained from the bankruptcy Court of northern
Mississippi reveals over $20 million in unsecured debts to
suppliers. The largest unsecured creditor is Hickory Springs at
$1.9 million.
The petition for bankruptcy protection was signed by
PeopLoungers President James Clifton Green Jr.
PeopLoungers, based in Nettleton, Mississippi, was founded in
1979 with 20 employees and claims to be the first company to
successfully sell motion upholstery as a primary product.
James Clifton Green bought PeopLoungers in June of 1997. Green
had been the Executive Vice President of Finance since February
1983 until the 1997 buy out-reorganization.
The company now occupies a five hundred thousand square foot
facility and employs more than seven hundred fifty people.
PeopLoungers has showrooms in Tupelo, Mississippi and in High
Point, North Carolina.
