The 36 minute interview with David Ingram and easyhome Master
Franchisor Bud Gates (former Rent-A-Center CEO) covers a broad
range of topics from the pair's first meeting - on a mountain in
Switzerland in 1991 - to how they came to work together today as
well as details of the "Be a Contender" contest.
Almost two decades after their
first chance meeting, Ingram and Gates
are working to develop what they believe is the next evolution
in the RTO business. easyhome opened its first US franchise in
2008 (see

easyhome is taking
a unique approach to it's Contender promotion. Applicants are asked to submit a confidential 5-minute video
through the secure Contender website answering the following
questions:
1. Why do you consider yourself one of the best RTO operators in
the US?
2. What are your greatest qualities as a top performer?
3. What can you do as a franchisee that you cannot do as a
corporate manager or supervisor?
4. What would you do differently if you owned your own store?
5. How do you stimulate your team to create inventive
promotions?
6. Where would you like to open your own store?
7. What do you consider most important when building lasting
customer relationships?
All entries must be received by October 31,
2009. Finalists will be chosen and interviewed at easyhome North
American headquarters in Toronto.
Up to two finalists will be offered
a single-store franchise with no franchise fee and full
initial financing by easyhome US Ltd. For 3 runners–up, half of
the initial franchise fee will be waived and the company will provide up to $450,000.00 in initial debt
financing.
