Roy May, formerly of Yam's Rentals and one of the original
board members and founding fathers of ARDA. Mr. May also
helped draft the law that now governs rent-to-own transactions
in Arkansas.
Phyllis McKenzie, ARDA's General Counsel, was on hand to
update members on legislative activity in the state. Ms.
McKenzie monitors the Arkansas Legislative Sessions on a daily
basis and reports any activity that might pertain to the
rental purchase industry.
Tom Hardin of the Rose Law Firm in Little Rock. Mr. Hardin
addressed Arkansas's usury laws.
John Raines of Raines Investments (Aaron's
Rental Purchase) discussed recent lawsuit filed against
Aaron's Rental Purchase in Arkansas. (The lawsuit was recently
dropped).
The 2005 Spring Convention and Trade Show will be held at the
Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs, Arkansas. ARDA will
elect officers for the coming two years. All
members are strongly encouraged to attend.
