Legislative Update
The Consumer Rental Purchase Agreement Act

Senator George Allen (R-VA) (Staff) is the latest co-sponsor to S884; Senate version of The Consumer Rental Purchase Agreement Act.

The addition of Allen brings the Senate cosponsor count to 26; 13 Democrat and 13 Republican. The junior Senator joins fellow Virginian legislators Representative Bob Goodlatte (R-VA 6), Representative Jo Ann S. Davis (R-VA 1), and Representative Virgil Goode (R-VA 5) as a rent to own industry supporter. (click herefor list)

The Senate Banking Committee will hear testimony on the Rental Purchase Agreement Act in open session on Tuesday, June 22 at 10:00 AM EST. Sen Mary Landrieu (D-LA) will urge the committee to attach (include the language of) the Act in the Regulatory Relief bill recently passed in the House and pending in the Senate. Senator Allen is in his first term serves on the Commerce, Science and Transportation, Foreign Relations, and Small Business and Entrepreneurship  committees.
