Habitat Families Must Invest 423 Hours to Build Habitat Homes Before Moving Into
Their Own Home |
|
Habitat for Humanity has built and sold more than 125,000 homes in more than
3,000 communities in 87 nations |
|
Whirlpool annual sales exceed $11 billion. The company employs 68,000 people |

Did you know that, on average, each
family moving into a Habitat for Humanity house invests 423
hours to building not only their own home, but homes for other
Habitat families? That adds up to a total of 38,916 hours for
the 92 families moving into this year's Jimmy Carter Work
Project (JCWP) 2003 homes. To help with this endeavor Whirlpool
and Lowe's, the Premier Sponsors of the JCWP 2003, will send
hundreds of employees to the JCWP 2003 week, dedicating a total
of 6,200 volunteer hours.
The Jimmy Carter Work Project (JCWP) is an annual Habitat for
Humanity weeklong building "blitz." This year, during the week
of June 8-13, 92 houses will be built in three cities: Aniston,
Ala., Valdosta and LaGrange, Ga. While many JCWP builds have
been in major metropolitan areas, this year Habitat for Humanity
selected these three "21st Century Challenge" communities --
communities that have committed to ridding their neighborhoods
of substandard housing. The JCWP 2003 marks the 20th year in
which former President Carter, his wife, Rosalynn and thousands
of volunteers have devoted a week to a labor of love all in an
effort to build decent housing for families in need.
