During more than twenty years as a practicing accountant, John Day has found
that clients can easily grasp accounting concepts if presented in the right way.
He has discovered common patterns of confusion among clients, and worked out
teaching techniques to guide them.
His Internet
accounting course is an amalgamation of wide
accounting experience and a unique ability to simplify ideas, and make them fun
and interesting to follow.

Have you been thinking that it would probably be a good idea to know more
about how accounting works? If so, you are not alone. There are probably
thousands of Rent to Own owners in the same boat. Chances are you know quite a
bit already about accounting since you have to produce financial statements,
at least annually, to prepare your income tax returns. I would venture to say
that you may only be missing certain key elements of accounting knowledge that
prevent you from seeing what we accountants call “the big picture”.
The first step to take when learning accounting concepts, is to set aside
your pre-conceptions of what that experience will be like. You need to know
that each accounting concept is simple and uncomplicated like 2+2=4. Combining
these concepts into various systems is what constitutes “accounting”.
Therefore, it is important to fully understand each concept before moving on
to the next. This is called “step-by-step” learning.
Roy Griffaw, your editor, has asked me to write a series of accounting
articles to help you see that understanding accounting concepts is not that
difficult. In fact, understanding accounting concepts should become a valuable
aid in knowing how the financial end of your business functions and
communicating that information to others.
