ColorTyme’s
financing options for both inventory and capital will allow me
to expand my business. I can now offer name brand merchandise to
back the customer service and relationships that have made my
business a success over the years.

RTO in 1982 and then bought his first store from a
locally owned RTO company in 1985. Since then, he’s had
as many as four stores and feels it’s time to expand his
presence in Seattle again. |
Bruce Beck is no stranger to
rebirths. As a business owner in Seattle, Washington’s White
Center neighborhood for 17 years, he has watched the area
undergo revitalization and rejuvenation. Beck’s Hometown Rental
store is also going through a rebirth of sorts, converting to a
ColorTyme
rent-to-own (RTO) franchise, but with the same service his long
time customers appreciate.
Beck’s new ColorTyme store will provide a wider selection of
brand names to his customers. “I’ve seen generations of families
come into my store,” Beck said. “Our customers are loyal because
we respect them. However, as an independent operator, my buying
power was limited. Now, with ColorTyme, I can do larger volume
and provide a deeper selection - something that will keep my
customers coming back for generations to come.”
Beck credits his employees for his success. “Your relationship
with your staff is critical,” he said. “Bringing on the right
people, training them, making sure you reward them with
financial and emotional incentives - it’s the human factor that
makes a store successful.”
His entire staff, including Manager Eric McCallum, who’s been
with Beck for more than a decade, will stay on for the store’s
conversion. Plans are also in the works for Beck to open a
second ColorTyme store by the end of the year in the Seattle
area.

ColorTyme, Inc. is the oldest franchised rent-to-own or rental
purchase company in the United States with nearly 300 stores.
Headquartered in Plano, Texas, ColorTyme offers customers the
opportunity to own the things they want and need in a way they
can afford, just as founder Willie Talley envisioned ColorTyme
26 years ago. The company got its start when Talley began
selling Curtis Mathes color televisions and realized many of his
customers couldn’t afford to buy a new TV in one payment. A new
brand and concept was born. Last year, the company launched an
aggressive franchise development plan and is on track to grow
significantly in the next five years with many of its newest
locations being developed by rent-to-own professionals.
