ColorTyme announced today the company has hired James Deering to
lead its franchise development efforts. Deering, who most
recently served as president of PCJ Franchising Company in
Wilmington, North Carolina, brings 15 years of retail and
service industry franchise experience to ColorTyme. This
position will be his first RTO venture, however, according to
ColorTyme CEO Bob Bloom, his extensive franchising knowledge and
expertise will help the company refine and expand its growing
franchise system.
“This position requires broad knowledge of franchising laws and
best practices,” said Bloom. “James’ depth and breadth of
experience makes him an ideal choice to head ColorTyme’s
franchising efforts, especially as we begin to roll out plans to
expand RimTyme.”
Last month, ColorTyme announced significant expansion to its
RimTyme custom wheel rental division that will include broad
franchise development (see
story). In addition to overseeing ColorTyme’s
traditional RTO franchise needs and expansion opportunities,
Deering will also lead the franchising efforts for RimTyme.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to learn a whole new industry
within franchising,” said Deering. “RTO is a strong business
model. For the industry to continue to expand and get better
operators they have to with non-traditional routes. I hope to
bring great franchise and business organizational efficiencies
as well as help refine the proven systems that ColorTyme has in
place now.”
Deering began his franchising career in 1992 when he became the
franchise relations manager for Paul W. Davis Systems. He went
on to become the chief operating officer in charge of all
aspects of franchising for Florida-based EBI/E-Chem. For six
years, Deering served as president of Wingstop Restaurants, Inc
in Dallas. He has also worked as a franchising consultant and
serves as a trustee for the International Franchise Association
Education Foundation.
Deering holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of
Massachusetts at Boston and a MBA from the University of North
Florida. He and his wife Alycia have been married for 25 years
and have two children. He succeeds former Director of
Franchising Pat Sumner who resigned in October to open his own
ColorTyme franchise.
