"ColorTyme's training is constantly being
refined"
Steve Gopoyan, ColorTyme franchisee since
1991
Every rent to own company has a training program.
Some are more elaborate than others but
ColorTyme University (CTU) can truly be
described as an Institute of Higher RTO learning.
"CTU students earn their Bachelor of Rental (BOR) degree," said CTU's Ted
Schlaack. Graduates can move on to earn a Masters and even a Doctorate in rental
management.
ColorTyme employees must first complete the companies multimedia "ExCel"
training program and be selected by franchise owners to attend the university in
Dallas, Texas for advanced degrees. The company's ExCel training system,
developed by CTU, is widely considered to be the model rent to own training
program in the United States.
"We
look for successful operators and try to incorporate their experiences into our
training," said Sam Lowe, Dean of CTU. Steve Gopoyan is one example. Gopoyan has
been in the rent to own business for 23 years and a ColorTyme franchisee since
1991. He operates 5 stores in Massachusetts - all top producers. CTU brought
Gopyan in to teach a course on Inventory Profitability during this weeks Winter
Operations Meeting. "ColorTyme University is good solid training," said Gopoyan.
"It's constantly being refined an gets better every year."
