On November 9th, The Texas Association of Rental Agencies (TARA) traveled to Sam’s Town Casino in Shreveport to provide its “Situational Leadership” training seminar to Louisiana Rent to Own  dealers and employees. Sam Lowe, ColorTyme Vice President of Operations, trained the receptive audience of 20 rental purchase pros on methods to match leadership and management skills to the level of an employee’s experience and personal development.

Lowe stressed managers must be flexible enough to choose the right management style for each situation. You can’t be totally directive with a highly competent employee who would do much better under a manager who understands how and when to delegate.

TARA Executive Director Vicky Hale and President Robert Briley also attended the leadership training in Shreveport. Hale replaced the retiring Lynn Clark as Executive Director in September. (see story)

TARA President Robert Briley hopes that Louisiana dealers, as well as those from Oklahoma and New Mexico, would see value in TARA training and networking. “Our goal is to have regional participation at the TARA Convention and Southwest Buying Show,” he said. The event is scheduled to begin March 26th, 2006 in Austin Texas.
