The Carolina Panthers announced today they will partner with Rent-A-Center (RCII) to refurbish a recreation room at the Marsh Road Boys and Girls Clubs to kick off their “Panthers’ RAC Room” program - one of three in the Charlotte area. Panthers linebacker Chris Draft and punter Jason Baker will help unveil the newly remodeled “RAC Room” during a 3:00 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, October 4th, at the Boys and Girls Club, 940 Marsh Road in Charlotte.

“We’re very excited about our new partnership with Rent-A-Center, and we’re also very proud to support the Boys and Girls Club,” said Riley Fields, Panthers Director of Community Relations. “Our hope is that this initial remodeling effort will create a model for future Boys and Girls Club programs and, along with Rent-A-Center, we can make an ongoing difference in so many children’s lives.”

In addition, Baker and Draft will challenge several Boys and Girls Club members to a video football game on their new big-screen televisions and utilizing the new video game consoles with the youngsters having the chance to go head-to-head with the Panthers players. Panther-themed prizes will also be given away.

The RAC Room at the Marsh Road Boys and Girls Club will serve area youth before and after school, giving them a fun and safe place to gather. The Panthers-themed refurbishment will include new sofas, a big-screen television, stereo, video game consoles, computers, carpeting and more - all furnished by Rent-A-Center - in addition to Panthers memorabilia.

Also, participating in the October 4th ceremony will be Panthers and Rent-A-Center executives and Boys and Girls Club representatives along with a number of youngsters from the Boys and Girls Club. Following the ribbon cutting, the children will have the opportunity to enjoy the amenities of the remodeled room.

“Rent-A-Center is pleased to be kicking off our RAC Room sponsorship for four area Boys & Girls Clubs with the Carolina Panthers,” said Mark Speese, Chairman and CEO of Rent-A-Center. “RAC Rooms will give a new look to a total of 33 Boys and Girls Clubs in the U.S. that will enable children to enjoy their surroundings during free time from school.”
