Everyone in the rental industry remembers the first time they saw the GoVideo dual-deck VCR. Remember the wonder of it all? A VCR with two slots in the same unit! The possibilities for expanding your customers’ viewing choices seemed endless – and so were the customers who wanted them.

How times changed since then, and GoVideo managed to adapt by offering new dual units that utilized varying combinations of VHS, DVD, and DVD recorders. Today, GoVideo is poised to again make a splash in the rental marketplace thanks to a new strategic alliance with SOYO Group, Inc.

“SOYO Group is a leading global provider of computer, consumer electronics and broadband telecommunications products and services. We were established in 1985 in Taipei and focused on manufacturing computer parts until about 2002 when we began to research how we could use our core competencies in the computer industry to merge into the consumer electronics field. Within the last two years, the convergence in technology has provided us with the opportunity to bring SOYO-branded LCD televisions quite successfully to the marketplace,” said Peter Calderon, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for SOYO Group, Inc.

Through a recently finalized two-year licensing agreement, SOYO Group plans to market both SOYO-branded and GoVideo-branded LCD TV’s and LCD Combo units to the rental industry. The line up will include 20” and 27” LCD sets that come with or without built-in DVD players, and 32” and 42” LCD televisions. Another popular item will be a portable 7” LCD television with DVD player at a $169 suggested retail price.

“We see plenty of distribution opportunity via RentDirect in the rental channel. With the industry awareness of the GoVideo brand combined with the resources of SOYO Group we plan to provide rental dealers with plenty of innovative products both now and in the future.”
Those products include an upcoming dual LCD monitor with 17” and 19” screens as well as new versions of the dual-deck product that made GoVideo an industry name from the beginning.

“We anticipate our partners in the rental industry will expand their profitability with our products and we hope we can all have some fun while we do business together.”
