The charity tournament, held March 1st at The
Traces Golf Club in Florence, South Carolina, (background) was won by team

All money raised will be used to to support kids
with diabetes in the Florence area. Event organizer Bob Kogler (who's
who)
said, "It was amazing how the golfers opened up there hearts and
wallets to help fight this deadly disease.
Following is a letter from the mother of a
diabetic child thanking the Koglers for their work supporting
the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
Hi Bob and Nan,
I was on cloud nine all day today thinking about the Golf
Tournament. Not only was it fun (I drove my first golf cart),
but so exciting to actually be a small part of what people all
across the world are doing in their own creative and
individual ways, taking us one step closer to that cure we so
desperately want. It is phenomenal to think that we have such
a deep and common passion with so many families across this
planet who we don't know and will never meet but that we are
all doing something together that really is making a
difference.
Daily it seems I am reminded of the harsh
reality of this disease. Just looking at Haley and trying to
comprehend what is going on inside her, sometimes just doesn't
seem real. Then like this morning, one of our dad's with Type
1 came into my office to pick up some "Sneakers" and told me
he couldn't see me completely because he had had a hemorrhage
in his right eye that started Sunday, and there was too much
blood in it for the Doctor to make any kind of diagnosis on
whether another laser surgery would fix it or not. I asked him
if this was due to the Diabetes and he said yes, that's where
it has chosen to affect me the most. He was really scared to
think he is loosing sight in that eye and he fears in time
diabetes will take sight in his other. This is when we are yet
again set with an even greater determination to do all that we
can to accomplish our goal!
Thank you again, from the bottom of my (and
Haley's, and Mark's and Hampton's and all our diabetic
families) heart for stepping up, taking action and truly
bringing us one step closer. Let's put Juvenile Diabetes
Foundation right out of business!
Love you guys,
Rhonda
